When Love Builds A School

When I first stepped on the red dirt of Uganda, I had no idea how much my life would change. I had no idea that I could love a land and it's people so deeply, or that my heart would long to be there anytime I am away. I had no idea that I would grieve so much, cheer so loudly, or hope with such reckless abandon for those I would come to call my family in East Africa. But, God knew. And I say thank you, Lord, for bringing me to this place at this time with these people and this ministry. He is a good, good Father.

When Love builds a school, the school cannot help but to flourish. It's so incredibly obvious that the Lord is all over this school, and that His deep, indescribable love for each and every child and adult there is creating a beautiful change in this community. I feel so honored to be entrusted to help lead the way toward making education affordable and available in a land where this has not been the norm. A place where many children grew up without access to education, food, health care. A place that is beautiful beyond my wildest dreams, yet so impoverished that they people go days without eating due to lack or drought or failed crops. Infact, when I first met the children I would grow to love as my own, they were so close to death from disease and malnourishment, I was told that they would not last another year. But God had a different plan. I am so grateful that He used me.

As we enter into the 9th year of building this school, and look to raise the $16,000 needed to build our next classrooms for the second year of high school, I humbly sit in awe and wonder of how far we have come. I know that this has little if anything to do with me, but everything to do with how Jesus loves this village and His plans and ways are so much better than ours. To think that we started under a tree with one teacher, 189 hungry children, and $25...oh my heart is filled with gratitude and joy. I delight in you Jesus.

We now have nearly 1000 children under our care. We ask you to consider joining us in this mission to give these beautiful children a hope, a future, an education. A chance to go to school. The opportunity to be rescued from the fields where they would work from daybreak til nightfall. To provide them with the protection against child trafficking and child marriage, that is so common in this area. To teach them about the love of Jesus, and the hope and healing only HE can bring. Our ministry changes lives, rescues and protects, and provides a future to those who thought they would be one of the many lost.
